Program 2025/2026
From October to June, the Art Work project will focus on three main themes:
AIRING – exploring the idea of natural space, and the ways we intervene in or construct within open-air environments and nature.
RESTING – reflecting on intimate spaces where we rest, play, and dream.
EATING – relating to food, the objects connected to meals, and the constructions and creations made with materials found in the kitchen.
Each theme will be explored over approximately three months through observation, dialogue, and play, supported by selected artworks and insights into the artists’ creative processes.
For each topic, two artists from different artistic disciplines will be presented. We will delve into their work and connect it with the students’ own explorations. This approach aims to build a meaningful bridge between students and artists, while also highlighting the diversity of perspectives and creative responses that can emerge from a single idea.
1º TRIMESTER | AIRING OUT
What is out there?
What objects, plants and animals?
In the Woods, backyards, gardens! Different spaces to explore!
Being outdoors is a way to get to know the world and nature.
What can I do with sticks or dry grass from the garden?
And with the clothes pegs that fall from the clothesline in the backyard? What if I discover incredible animals or very small beings under a bush?
Keywords: land art | scale | earth | nature | installation | sculpture | body | Outdoors | Garden | Freshness
Artists we’ll talk in class: Alberto Carneiro and Claes Oldenberg
2º TRIMESTER| RESTING
The Bedroom is a special place. A place to rest.
It’s where we keep our toys, our personal treasures.
Cupboards, drawers, shelves — secret spaces filled with things, some neatly stored, others delightfully messy. What might be hidden inside a drawer in a room that feels so completely mine?
What if the room could be assembled and taken apart?
What if a cupboard opened into a magical world, made for dreaming?
What if the bedsheets became screens, where a thousand images could appear?
Keywords: dream | imagination | sculptures | organization | drawing | clippings | personal universe
Artists we’ll talk in class: António Catalano e Tereza Cortez
3º TRIMESTER | EATING
What’s in the Pantry?
What can we store, assemble, or build with what we find there?
And what about the high shelves — the ones just out of reach? What if the flour leapt out of the bag to create a work of art?
What if the spices that flavour our meals floated through the air in a kind of suspended sculpture?
What if pots, pans, and freshly picked fruits and vegetables came together to form a beautiful painting?
In the end, everything in the pantry becomes our creative material!
Keywords: senses | matter | colors | smells | flavors | cuisine |Installation
Artists we’ll talk in class: Ernesto Neto e Sophie Calle
Note: our program may undergo minor changes.
